Berry Sweet brings Dubai-inspired desserts to Victoria’s food truck scene

They just launched last week! 🍓

There’s a new food truck in town and it’s all about satisfying your sweet tooth with something totally different.

Meet ‘Berry Sweet’, the newest dessert truck to hit Vancouver Island. Officially launched on May 30th, this eye-catching mobile business is the dream project of husband-and-wife duo Eirini and Vedat Kaya.

And trust us—you can’t miss it. The truck itself is bright pink and shaped like a giant berry, making it stand out at any market or festival. Whether you’re hunting for dessert or just strolling by, it’s bound to catch your eye.

If Eirini’s name sounds familiar, it’s because she already runs two popular Greek food trucks—Greek n’ Go in Victoria and The Mad Greek in Vancouver. But with Berry Sweet, she’s gone full dessert mode.

“I have the biggest sweet tooth ever and I’m a total foodie,” she says. “I’ve always dreamed of having a dessert-focused business—even more than savoury food.”

The menu is playful, colourful, and totally indulgent.

You’ll find fresh strawberries dipped in your choice of chocolate, cinnamon buns loaded with toppings, and what’s quickly becoming their signature item, the Dubai Chocolate Cups. These treats come layered with strawberries, pistachio cream, milk chocolate, and crispy kataifi (a thin shredded pastry), offering a combo of crunch, richness, and pure joy.

“I visited Dubai and went to a dessert bar that completely blew me away,” Eirini explains. “I’d seen the trend all over TikTok, but once I tasted it, I knew I had to bring that experience to Victoria.”

The food truck sources its strawberries locally and uses Canadian-made pistachio cream, with everything assembled by hand inside the compact trailer. You can build your own cup or bun, choosing from toppings like Biscoff, Smarties, Reese’s Pieces, and marshmallows.

You’ll find Berry Sweet every Thursday at the Sidney Street Market, and they’re working to lock in a spot at Victoria’s Inner Harbour by the Canada sign. They’ll also be popping up at festivals like Fern Fest, Canada Day, and more all summer long. The full schedule is always up-to-date on Instagram and the Victoria Street Food app under “Berry Sweet BC.”

While the team is focused on perfecting the truck right now, don’t be surprised if you see more locations—or even a storefront—in the future.

“We’d love to expand beyond Victoria one day. Maybe a second truck… or third!”

Still, it hasn’t been all sugar and sprinkles. Starting late in the season—after a bit of a last-minute idea—meant missing out on some prime market spots, and like any new venture, running a food truck comes with its own learning curve.

“What people don’t realize is: running a food truck is 10x harder than running a restaurant,” says Eirini. “It’s 15-hour days, hauling generators, loading and unloading everything, prepping in your kitchen, responding to emails—food trucks are not for the weak!”
