Vancouver Island A&W locations have brought back this nostalgic summer treat

And the rest of the country!
(A&W Canada)

If there’s one treat that brings back memories of summer road trips and family outings, it’s an A&W Root Beer Float.

The Canadian fast-food chain has brought back its iconic Root Beer Float for a limited time, giving Victorians another chance to enjoy the classic combination of ice-cold A&W Root Beer topped with creamy vanilla soft serve.

The nostalgic favourite quietly returned to menus last month and has already been making waves with longtime fans who have been asking for its comeback ever since it disappeared from restaurants.

For many Canadians, the Root Beer Float has become a summer tradition, whether it’s enjoyed after a day at the beach, during a road trip across Vancouver Island or simply as a cool treat on a warm afternoon.

According to A&W, guest demand played a big role in bringing the menu item back, with customers continuing to share memories of the drink and requesting its return over the years.

While you’re stopping by for a Root Beer Float, there’s another limited-time item collectors may want to check out.

A&W has also released a collection of limited-edition Rooty plush keychains featuring the restaurant’s famous Great Root Bear dressed for classic Canadian summer adventures.

The collectibles come in five styles which includs hiking, rodeo, poutine, paddling and fishing.

The keychains can be added to any combo for $4.99 or purchased on their own for $9.99, while supplies last.Given Rooty’s long history as one of Canada’s most recognizable restaurant mascots, A&W expects the collectibles to disappear quickly.

“There is something magical about the connection Canadians have with our Root Beer
Floats,” said Susan Senecal, CEO and president of A&W Canada.

“They are woven into the fabric of Canadian summers, from nostalgic road trip pit stops to savouring a float in the frosty mug with the whole family. We’re excited to revive this tradition today, inviting both long-time fans and a new generation to enjoy this timeless treat together.”

And if you haven’t visited A&W in a while, there’s another new menu item worth trying.

The restaurant recently launched its new smash burgers, featuring thin, crispy-edged beef patties cooked on a hot griddle for a caramelized crust and topped with classic burger fixings.

Whether you’re in it for the nostalgia, the collectibles or simply looking for an excuse to cool off this summer, A&W has given Canadians a few new reasons to stop by their local restaurant before these limited-time offerings disappear.
