Get ready to pack up the car Vancouver Island, it’s time to go on a late-evening adventure!
Every year, the Perseid meteor shower lights up the sky between late July and late August, but tonight it’s putting on its most dazzling show of the year.
According to the Farmer’s Almanac, the Perseids reach their peak this evening, promising the “brightest and most numerous meteors” of the entire display—making it a bucket list moment for stargazing lovers.
Here are some great local spots in and around Victoria to soak it all in:
- Ogden Point
- Island View Beach
- Cattle Point
- Sheringham Point Lighthouse
- PKOLS
Grab some warm clothing, a hot beverage, a blanket, and your boo, and head away from the city lights for the best view.
For maximum visibility, avoid using your phone or bright flashlights—your eyes will thank you. Keep in mind that a large Gibbous Moon could dull the brilliance a little, but with luck (and clear skies), you’ll still be treated to a spectacular cosmic show.
