Vancouver Island’s first full snowfall of the season has arrived, and while it hasn’t been a total winter wonderland just yet, there’s much more to come.
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for parts of eastern Vancouver Island, including Duncan, Nanaimo, and the southern Gulf Islands, with up to 20 cm of snow expected.
The heavy snow is set to roll in with two rounds with the first hitting this morning through late afternoon, and another beginning tonight, lasting into Tuesday.
As winds shift over the Strait of Georgia, snowsqualls will bring sudden, heavy snow, reducing visibility and making roads a bit tricky. So, if you’re heading out, be prepared for changing conditions, especially between Qualicum Beach and Fanny Bay during the day, and the Nanaimo-Victoria corridor later on.
Now, to kick things off, here are some photos capturing that first snowfall magic on Vancouver Island!

Friendly reminder that winter driving conditions can be dangerous due to snow and ice. Reduce your speed and maintain a safe distance from others while out on the roads.
