One of the most heartwarming events of the year is returning to Victoria’s Bay Centre for just one special day this spring.
Kidovate 2025 hits all three levels of the shopping centre on Saturday, April 5th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and trust us, this is one you won’t want to miss.
This annual youth entrepreneurship experience showcases the next generation of business leaders, ages 12 to 17, as they sell their handmade, re-purposed, or re-sold goods to the public.
It’s a one-day free market full of charm, creativity, and an impressive amount of hustle from Victoria’s youth.
Over 200 youth will take part this year, and the event continues to grow in popularity—not just with participants, but with shoppers eager to support the young minds behind each table.
Created by the University of Victoria’s Gustavson School of Business, the program provides more than just a one-day business license, a table and a chance to make a few bucks.
Every registered youth receives a graphic novel-style workbook to help guide their planning, and access to UVic business student mentors who can offer insight on how to turn ideas into sales.
The event’s timing—just after spring break—is no coincidence. It gives youth time to brainstorm, build, and polish their pitches before showtime.
“Each year we are astounded at the incredible variety of cool products and great prices available at Kidovate” shared Kidovate co-founder and Gustavson School of Business entrepreneurship professor Claudia Smith.
“It is truly inspiring to see how innovative and passionate these young people are, and how much they learn! But these micro-businesses need customers, so we hope the community will support these amazing kids by joining us at Kidovate 2025 Market Day.”
Whether you’re shopping for unique gifts, baked goods, pet treats, seedlings, jewelry or custom art, Kidovate is a celebration of young ambition, big ideas, and the community that rallies around them.
