A quick stop at a corner store in Qualicum Beach changed Ann Maybee’s life after she found out her Lotto Max ticket won her a cool half-million dollars.
Maybee was inside Munchy Business when she scanned her ticket from the August 1st draw. That’s when the reality of her win sank in.
“The first thing that came to mind was, ‘holy cow!’” she laughed. “It felt unreal and then I immediately thought, ‘how do I claim this?’”
At the time she claimed her prize, Maybee hadn’t even told anyone yet.
“I haven’t told anyone! I’m still too excited,” she admitted.
As for what she plans to do with the $500,000? She’s keeping it simple for now.
“I’m still processing the win,” she said.
Maybee said it was “Very nice! And nice is not a word to be underestimated!” when asked how it feels to strike it lucky.
Her winning ticket was purchased at the Red Apple on Island Highway West in Parksville.
So far in 2025, BC lottery players have redeemed more than $35 million in winnings from the Extra and more than $163 million from Lotto Max.
