Surpirse, we did it again!

Vancouver Island is no stranger to praise, but a recent roundup of Canada’s most beautiful places by Travel + Leisure has officially solidified the Island as one of the country’s crown jewels.

Out of 25 breathtaking destinations across the nation, three Vancouver Island locations earned well-deserved spots, Clayoquot Sound, Tofino, and Victoria.

Each destination was highlighted for its unique appeal, whether it’s wilderness, culture, or coastal charm.

Here’s how Vancouver Island’s finest ranked—and what the travel experts had to say.

#3 – Clayoquot Sound

Named the best destination for families in the entire country,  Tucked away on the Island’s wild west coast, Clayoquot Sound was named one of Canada’s most beautiful places and the top spot for families. Recognized as a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, this region is bursting with outdoor adventure and incredible wildlife sightings. Travel advisor Jessica Renshaw recommended a “wildlife marine safari to view orca whales, grey whales, sea otters, seals, and black bears scouring the beach for shore crab.”

For those seeking luxury with their nature fix, Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge offers glamping like no other—with experiences ranging from heli-fly-fishing to canyoning.

#8 – Tofino

Coming in at #8, Tofino was celebrated as a paradise for hikers, surfers, paddlers, and anyone craving nature on their doorstep. Travel advisor Alicia Thompson noted the destination’s year-round access to activities like kayaking, paddle boarding, and surfing—plus its iconic sandy stretch, Long Beach.

Set within the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, the area also boasts lush trails like Rainforest Trail and Big Tree Trail, making it easy to see why it landed a top 10 spot on the list.

#21 – Victoria

Rounding out Vancouver Island’s featured trio is Victoria, ranked at #21. BC’s capital was praised for its picturesque waterfront and Old Town charm. The Travel + Leisure team suggested visitors stroll the Inner Harbour, enjoy cocktails at the Fairmont Empress, and make time for Butchart Gardens, which showcases more than 900 varieties of flowers just a short drive from downtown.

With its mix of historic architecture, vibrant streetscapes, and coastal beauty, Victoria remains one of the most elegant and enjoyable places to visit in Canada.

Other BC locations which made the list include:

#2 – Joffre Lakes Park (near Pemberton) was called an underrated hidden gem for its turquoise glacial lakes and alpine scenery.

#6 – Golden made the list for its mountain views, suspension bridges, and outdoor adventure offerings.

#14 – Cheakamus Lake in Garibaldi Park was spotlighted for its serene mountain-surrounded setting.

#16 – Haida Gwaii was celebrated for its remoteness, rich Indigenous culture, and world-class fishing.

While Vancouver Island locals already knew we’re surrounded by beauty, it’s kind of flattering when visitors think the same. With Clayoquot Sound, Tofino, and Victoria making the list of Canada’s most stunning places, it’s the perfect excuse to rediscover your own backyard, or finally plan that trip you’ve been putting off.
