Cultural pride takes the field at Pacific FC’s Asian Heritage match next Saturday

Soccer with a side of celebration!

Get ready, soccer fans—on Saturday, May 24th, Pacific FC takes on Forge FC at Starlight Stadium, and kickoff is set for 2 p.m. sharp.

But this isn’t just another epic showdown in the Canadian Premier League—it’s also a full-blown celebration of Asian Heritage Month!

This match is about more than just goals and glory—it’s about recognizing the vibrant cultures that make Vancouver Island such a magical place. Pacific FC is throwing a cultural party with a purpose, shining a spotlight on the Asian heritage that’s deeply woven into our community—on and off the field.

Meet the stars

Kadin Chung and Aidan Daniels are two standout players proudly repping their Filipino roots, and Sami Keshavarz is a Victoria-born player with Iranian heritage who’s making waves on and off the pitch.

These three represent the heart of what this celebration is all about—diversity, talent, and a love for the game.

In the lead-up to game day, Pacific FC’s social media will be filled with stories from players, staff, and fans of Asian descent—sharing their journeys, culture, and how soccer fits into it all.

Matchday magic

The Bayanihan Community Centre will bring the energy with pre-game and halftime cultural dances, anthem singers, and in-stadium booths where you can learn more, connect, and maybe even show off your own dance moves.

Even better? You can support the community while you’re soaking in the vibes. The Bayanihan Community Centre is running a special ticket fundraiser to support Filipino families affected by recent events in Vancouver. For every ticket bought through this link, Pacific FC will donate $5 to help those communities.

Good soccer, good cause—yes please!

Also, don’t miss out on APPARE Yosakoi Vancouver—a joyful, high-energy Japanese dance group that knows how to get the party started with traditional instruments called naruko. They’ll be performing in the Family Zone before the match and again at halftime.

Whether you’re a seasoned supporter or just looking for a fun, feel-good way to spend your Saturday afternoon, the Asian Heritage Match is your ticket to 90 minutes of action plus a whole lot of cultural celebration.
